Return plumbing with a 1-1/4" Durso Standpipe
Im putting together the plumbing for my 75 RR AGA and was curious about the size PVC I should use for the drain? I have a 1" Bulkhead, with a 1-1/4" Standpipe....should I go with 1" or 1-1/4" PVC for the drain to the sump?

The size of the plumbing is determined mostly by the pump you are using. I am assuming the Oceanrunner 3500 in your profile is it. If the bulkhead is 1" and the Durso is 1-1/4 (as it should be for that bulkhead) then I see no real benefit from using 1-1/4 piping since you will always have the 1" bottleneck at the bulkhead. I would go with the 1" piping but keep the head pressure at the bare minimum and try not to use too many ells, valves, or other engineered pipe obstructions in order to keep the back pressure on the pump to a minimum

I could be reading your feedback wrong, but I am talking about the plumbing TO the sump....not the return plumbing to the display......

1" is what i would go with for the pluming to the sump if the bulkhead is 1". My understanding of why you would have a larger diameter stand pipe is to help with noise reduction. It will not allow for more flow to enter the sump (or where it is draining to) since the bulkhead is only 1" creating a bottle neck (smallest area for the water to travel through) .
