Quality of certain companies???

So I have two pieces of equipment that don't really work as they should and I was concerned about them. I emailed the companies that produce them and asked what to do.

First one was my Coralife Super Skimmer. The orignial pump started tossing volts and gave me a small joint. I sent Coralife an email and they quickly sent me a new pump, which I couldn't complain about. I got the new pump about three week later and for the first three days it worked great, but after that it stopped producing bubbles. I emailed them and the short story is I was told the pumps are too powerful. They suggested the I put the pump inlet against the sump wall to reduce the flow allowed to enter the pump or to install a ball valve on the up tube between the pump and the skimmer housing.

The second one was with my Oceanic Bio-Cube 14. I have a problem with my fans in making a ton of noise, specifically the one on the left as you are looking at it. I emailed Oceanic and they said that they know it's a problem. They said to buy some felt pads to put between the fan and the mounting point for the fan then reinstall the fan.

So my issue is why, if these companies know that their products have problems, dont' they fix them. I dont' feel like I should have to modify ANYTHING that I buy to get it to work the way the company says it's suppose to work. The coralife super skimmer didn't say, "may require ball valve installation" and the Bio-Cube didn't say "may require fan silencer device". I'm honestly not a very picky person but I just dont' get this.

It's simple, welcome to the American corporate machine. Why do you think you deserve to get a quality well made item at a ridiculous price that works they way it was advertised? We have been programmed to accept inferior goods and services at absorbent prices and not expected to complain. It's all apart of the FU pay me mentality... Could you tell this bothers me?

: )

I had this same problem. I e mailed and harassed Custom Aquatics (parent company) until they sent me replacement fans. But they had stopped making noise in between. I loosened the screws a bit on the fans, so they weren't chattering against the fixture.

Yeah I understand that it can be fixed, but I just don't know why they don't fix it from the factory if they KNOW there is a problem with it. I mean if I go in there and "modify" it and have a different problem they can say, "well....you modified it so the warranty is voided".

Basically what I'm getting at is even if you can fix the problem it should work the way it's suppose to as advertised.
