Any use "stacked" sumps?
In the midst of planning a 120 right now. I would like to use either a 50 breeder (36x18x18) if I can find one, or my current 50 gallon (30x18x20) Yes that tank does exist and is not custom.
Anyway, I have been thinking about getting a Aqua Euro 450 skimmer which is fairly large. This skimmer would take up about half of the sump. So, was thinking about using a 20 gallon tank and build a smaller stand inside of the 120's stand and use the 20 gallon as a fuge. I would like to know if anyone has a set up like this, or has seen one and what you think of it. Pics or links would be great! Thanks! |

OK, I just erad what I wrote and realised I was in a hurry, and it dosen't make much sense.
What I mean is this: I am thinking of using a 50 gallon tank as the main sump / skimmer area, and building a smaller stand inside of the 120's stand to hold a 20 gallon tank above the 50 gallon. The 20 gallon would then be a full fuge. Has anyone heard of, or seen this done? I would like to keep everything in the stand. Good idea? Other ideas would be great as well. Thanks! |

it would work, I have 2 acrylic sumps side by side attached with bulkheads and PVC, just put your drain as high as you want the water level before it goes to the 2nd sump
