External skimmer?
I have 14 gallon Bio Cube. My plan is to have external protein skimmer next to the side of the tank in another build stand or underneath the tank hidden in the stand.
I'd like to run tubing that pulls water in the skimmer and other tube that returns the water back to the tank. Possible? |

A sump would be easier, but I am sure it is possible.

you thinking gravity feed one? with a pump on the return line?
I would search in DIY section for this....AND...I would think if power failure, the skimmer would overflow....... |

Always think of the inevitable power failure. Mounting on the side or behind is a better option as long as the water level in the skimmer is higher than that in your tank. Not as attractive though. For a 14 gl tank a small hob skimmer is your best option.
