How much flow in a 90g reef?
How much flow is best for a 90g reef tank? right now I have a 1500gph SEIO pump and 3 Maxi-Jet 1200's (each 295gph) on a wavemaker. Is that too much? What is the rule of thumb?

That's not too much. I have two tunze 6000's on a multicontroller, mag 7 return, and another small powerhead in my 75. Good flow is essential to the health of aquariums, and you want to make sure all waste is kept in suspension, filtered out, and processed. No fish food or waste should settle on the bottom of the aquarium.

Depends on what your keeping, I have two Vortech pumps on my 90G
Return pump is an Eheim 1260, but i dont use that for flow, its purely there to move water from the sump. Andy |

If your planning on doing SPS on a 90g, I'd say roughly minimium 20x90g=1800g combine flow rate from all your pumps and powerheads, soft coral requires less than that so all depends on what you're keeping.
