octopus recirc problem

it's a noob question:

has anyone had any issues with the water in-take an an octopus100 recirc. I'm not getting any bubbles out of the inlet piece inside of the skimmer, but water is coming through. There are no bubbles coming out of the pvc T(where the water enters the skimmer) and plenty of microbubbles coming out of the lower pvc T(recirc pump). It seems like the bubbles, on the intake pvc T, are leaking out at the seal between the pvc and the acrylic(skimmer body). I imagine I'll need to re-seal it so that the bubbles actually come out of the 2 sides of the pvc T. This is my first recirc skimmer so I'm not sure whether the water inlet pvc T is supposed to create bubbles or, simply, just to add water to the skimmer without being chopped up into microbubbles. any info will definitely help, thanks

Yea ur right the top (inlet) T is to add water to the skimmer, and the lower one thats the outlet of the Rec. pump to add bubbles. The very bottom is the inlet to the recirc pump. The Idea is that the water coming in to the skimmer recirc in the skimmer giving it more contact time. Its working fine. No bubbles are suppose to be coming out of the top (inlet)

You could however, make bubbles come in through the top by jamming a length of airline tubing into the intake of the feed pump. The bubbles will be bigger than the ones from the recirc pump unless you mesh the impeller on the feed pump.

Just a thought.

thanks, I I just wanted to make sure it was working right. It wasn't producing much foam, but that was just the "breaking in" phase, and now is producing a pretty good amount of foam/skimmate.
