Which paint?
I will be painting the bak of my glass tank, most likely will go with black, since my overflows are black.....
What brand of paint will be the best? How many laters of paint? Does anyone have problems with paint chipping or peeling off after painting is done? Thanks |

Easy - latex with a roller
Best - Spraypaint (krylon or non-run) Other option - Using a black piece of acrylic or painting another object (wood, foam, glass) and attaching it to the back. |

Automotive spray paint worked great on a 20 gallon. But I painted my 90 with latex, black. The flat latex seemed to stick better than the gloss and I dont think you can tell the difference through the glass. I used a small roller. Mine took probably 4 or 5 thin coats. Use name brand paint, not the cheapest stuff. Reason why Latex is a good choice is that it can probably be removed easier and is non or atleast less toxic. Once the tank is set up, if you decide to change colors or need touch-up, I figured it would be alot safer with latex. Biggest problem is the paint will not stick to any silicone that has oozed out of the seams. Also, need to really make sure the glass is super clean before painting. The first couple of coats dont go on all that well and it may seem like it's not going to work, but it will. The latex has been holding up very well on my tank. I wasnt sure it would but once it dried all the way, it stuck well.
