BakPak 2R+

What do you guys think of using a CPR BackPak 2R in a sump ? Hanging off the side of the sump ?

As in you already have it? Use it in sump as you can.

as in I can get one for a song, and I need a new skimmer, and a decent one for a 90g hex.

I have a 20g sump with room for one.

Theres no way it will skim a 90 G. I have one on my 45G with an extra airstone and its just about right.

While we are on this topic of the bak pak has anyone tried doing a mesh mod on the mj1200 to make it perform better. Aquatraders has an exact clone of this skimmer for like $30 and it may be fun to try to crank out the most of this skimmer.

sublime-1,
I have one hanging on the end of my refugium and it works GREAT! I use it on my 55 Gal. I get tons of skimmate. I did not have enough room to put it inside of mine.

A brand new backpack isnt worth $30 IMO. Theyre junk.

Look into the AquaEuro Classic 135, at $150, or the Reef Octopus NW150 at about $165 if you want a cheap skimmer that will handle that tank.

The impellar istn the problem with the maxijet, the shroud is. You can't get more air unless you put a bigger shroud on it.
