who has a reef and a large Angel?

Just wondering of the success rates and problems over come with this combination? have you dreamed of it, have you seen it or are you living it?

I would say that the large angel fish will usually go after either your LPS and zoa's if not well fead. But even there it's still risky.

I once had a Emperor Angle - 5" sub-adult (Changed from juvi to adult colors in my reef system.) Wasn't that much of a problem as a juvi, but I do remember, as it aged it would go after my zoa's... I didn't really mind that much for I had plenty and they weren't spectacular specimens. This tank was predominately a SPS tank and can't say I ever remember it touching SPS.

I had an Emperor and Majestic in a reef tank for 4 years, they only ate LPS and small clams.

I currently have a Blue face and a Regal. The Regal hasn't been in there long enough to tell yet, but the Blue face has eaten most of my zoanthids, and he's had periods where he nips at anemones (especially carpet anemones) but not consistently.

someone in another forum is experimenting with large angels in a reef tank. he just recently remove a bubble off the tank because the angel(couldn't remember which one because he has a few) was nipping on it and also was nipping on his goni.

My Blueface will devour any Xenia, Zoas or Mushrooms as soon as they hit the water. Cleans the frag rock clean.

seems to be undisided then. Yes they will eat soft and LPS but no on the SPS. The reason for asking is i have purchased a 1 1/2 inch emperor and am planning on putting him in my new 6"x2"x2" when it turns up and it going to be manly SPS. Thanks for the feed back and keep it comming.

I have a majestic with mostly softies. It leaves them alone. My lemon peel is the nipper in that tank.

This French beauty ate all of my zoanthids, but has left softies and nems alone. I also have a blue moon that hasn't bothered anything

it sounds like a lot of people are mistaking the Flagfin Angel's gill spike for a smile. Looks like his "nose" is blue, eh?
Looks like a spectacular aquarium, invincible569- can you give us a link to more of it?

...

I have a Majestic and a Flame. Here's what I have and success/failure to date:

Zoas - hit or miss, the brown colony they ignore, the meatier blue/greys I put in the majestic mowed over

Galaxea (tooh coral/LPS) - never touched, ever

Purple Clove Poylp - Majestic nips at it off and on, lately moreso and it's not doing so well

Toadstool - doesn't touch

Devil's hand - doesn't touch

Hairy Mushrooms/any Mushrooms - doesn't touch

Green Star Polyps - doesn't touch

I just added a small hammer coral frag last night that I bought for $20, he immediately went up to it while it was closed, stopped, swam away. Did it about 3 times, then ignored it altogether. I am hoping he doesn't touch it, so I can add some frogspawns and torches.
