29 GALLON, pic.

this is the third move for this tank and hopefully the last.

i started with this tank then aquired a 55 hex and moved everthing to that, I discovered that hex tanks SUCK, hard to clean and the stand was very restricted and acces to the sump was difficult.

so I decided to switch back to my 29 but to do it right and drill it for a sump and build a real stand. the sump isnt yet on in the pic.

here she is, 29g 50 lb live rock and some live sand. 10gal sump, skimmer and rio 1400 return pump. maxi jet 1200 PH and rio 180 for in tank circulation.

lighting is a DIY 250W MH with 14k bulb. Need to fiddle with the setup to reduce the light spill into the room.

occupants as of now are a small clown, chalk bass and a firefish.

just wanted to suggest rethinking your sand bed. looks like you've got about 2" and should probably either look into a shallower one (1 inch or less) or a deeper one like around 4+ inches. but it looks real nice.

I was thinking of adding more sand.

I am going to have 5 inches of sand in the sump also, would this be enough?

five should be just fine. it's really when you get into the 2 of 3 inch beds where you have an issue.

what issues are you talking about? I want to know what I should do before I get to faralong and have to add more sand.

are you just talking of denitrification? or some other problem?
