250W MH Electronic ballasts

Hi All,

I'm about to buy a (4) 250W halide set up and wanted to hear your opinions on 250W Electronic Ballasts.

Has anyone used the Sunlight Supply Galaxy Dual 250W ballast?

I really like the fact that it comes prewired to plug into their pendants for clean setup. I also like that it's housed an heatsink chassis.

I don't have a lot space to mount and wire a bare ballast like the Icecap.

How does the performace of the Galaxy ballast compare to Icecap or the others?

I plan to run 4 pendants over my tank.

thanks,
-todd

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on one myself. I have heard nothing but good things. Talked to some people that have bought from my LFS and they love them.

For the money, I would suggest the electronic aqua medic ballast. I bought a dual 150 watt aqua medic ballast from custom aquatics. It cost 130.00 delivered.

Look on their web site under "replacement ballasts". I have had mine for 9 months, with no problems. It's very compact. Also, the plugs on the unit accept standard type household power cords. Hope this helps.

Just received the latest bill from electric company, and being from Socal where electricity prices and gas prices compete (regular is about $3.50 per gal).
I have been running four 250w Gallaxies with Radiums, which look great, for about a month now and my bill has dropped by $30.00. I think the investment will pay off
