Center brace and Lights

I want 250w hqis for my tank. I dont know if I wanna do 4 or 3. I would like to do 3 but it would have to be right in the middle. My center brace is like 3" wide. Will this cut down on the light? Will the light effect the center brace? Any input welcome. TIA

it will create a bad shadow that you probally won't like. on my fifty gallon tank i cut the center brace out leaving about 2 inches on either side. drilled small holes in each tab and made a brace using stainless steel rod like from a welding shop. work great no shadow. don't know if it will work on a tank your size though

I actually cut my bar out completly and then used a wire coat hanger which i replaced about every 6-8 months. it worked great.
