DIY Calcium Reactor 2nd Chamber ???

Hi All,

Most, if not all of the 2nd chamber for a Calcium reactor that I've seen are sealed chambers! Is there a reason for this? I thought about using my old CPR BakPak as a second chamber by filling it with media and dripping the effluent on one side of the CPR and allowing it to go through the media before exiting to the other side.

Will this work?

thanks,
J
