Question filter help

so i keep getting alot of algea on my acrylic and am thinking that if my filtration was better it would prolly help alot. I have an eclipse 6 with 32w pc and a 70gph power head thats behind the LR for movement. I have got rid of the bio-wheel because everyone was just calling it a breeding place for nitrates, and run filter floss and carbon all of the time, in place of the stock cartridges that the eclipse comes with, and am thinking i can now put something else in the space that the wheel used to occupy but i dont know what to put there. besides that i have a HOB aquaclear 150 from one of my fs tanks that i dont use anymore and was thinking that it has to have better flow rate and a much larger media area than the stock one and with a little hood mod I could fit it in instead. Sound like a good idea? what should i fill the media area with if that is the case? should i just use the sponge, carbon and gravel stack that came with the pump(id replace with new obviously) or should i put something else in it? maybe fill it will a layer of floss and then as much rubble as will fit? Im open to any ideas at all asside from getting a new tank or adding a Sump or fuge. thanks alot

Algae is common with new systems. It will go away on it's own with time.

If you have live rock, most people would not use a filter. The rock and a skimmer should be all that you require.
