Heck, 2x24wattT5s would be enough for a softy tank and maybe some lower light clams (derasa/squamosa). 4x24wattT5 though if you want to keep higher light softies (toadstool, xenia, etc) and croceas/maximas.

If you want MH lighting I would go with the 150w HQI Current Sunpod light fixture. This fixture comes made for a 29g tank (30" model) and looks really good too. I've seen them on eBay before for around $230 which is a very good price.

Its alright, but not the best. Quality isnt job#1 with coralife, and their ballasts/reflectors arent made all that well either. They are alright, but I think you can easily piece something else together that is better. A better selection would be the Lumenarc Stealth pendant, $99, and a PFO M81-HQI ballast. Put a pheonix 14,000K in there and let er rip. The lumenarc stealths are worth every penny though.

I have a 29gal grow out tank that is lit with a AB Oceanlight 150W MH w/ a Phoenix 14k lamp, and love it. I'm getting great growth and color from this set up. Mine was used by someone here on RC and was purchased in great shape for about $225 a little over a year ago.

The Sunpod has legs to sit on top of your aquarium. I have one on my 30 cube. Nice light. Even has lunar lights in the fixture.

I would go Sunpod over JBJ any day as they are better built and have 12 blue/white moonlights for a true nocturnal effect in your tank.

I would still favor a 4x24wattT5 setup, FWIW.
