Questin about flow in an Aquapod
Hey guys...
I have a 24g Aquapod and was wondering about the flow in it. Currently....I have the stock pump in back pulling water through the overflow rated at 296gph. In the display, I habe a Maxi-jet 400 rated at 104gph on the left side. Would it be too much to add another Maxi-jet on the right side to create a cross flow? Currently...that would give me about 400gph (not counting any loss from wear) of flow. If I can add another Max-jet....what would be a better option.....adding another Max-jet on the right side for a crossflow or just bumping up my 400 to say a 1200? Thanks, Jim |

I don't have a recomendation for you but I would be worried about heat issues. Maybe upgrade the stock and 400 to whatever pump is rated around 600-700 each. Then run the one in tank opposite-ish of the flow of the stock outlet to get the cross flow.

Good point about mounting the powerhead opposite of the stock outlet (which is on the upper left side of the display tank). Maybe I'll look into moving my Maxi-jet 400 to the right side blowing towrds the left. Thanks for the thought.
