question about water changes
is it better to use distilled water then tap water

Yes it is . Tap is not even an option IMI. But ro/di is better.

Yes. Some people will tell you to look out for copper in distilled water but I have not seen copper piping on a large distillation unit in years and years. They all use glass lined piping now. RO/DI is the prefferred water especially if you can buy your own RO/DI unit so you control its quality. Buying RO or RO/DI water can be tricky since you never know how well the vendor maintains their system.
