Sealife systems skimmer question?

Just wanted to know if the "water line" sticker indicator on My skimmer means water line for inside the reaction chamber, or sump level? neither seem to be quite right. would the physics of the skimmer stay correct if I were to add a ball valve to the outlet to control the water level?

you should be able to adjust the water level by sliding the exit pipe up or down. the water level sticker on the skimmer is for reaction chamber water level, not sump water level.
