feeding

after all these years I'm still not sure if I am overfeeding my fish.
Also I seem to have allot of silt and hair algae lately. What's up with that?

Most likely you are. Cut back to once a day, maybe even every other day and do larger weekly water changes for a couple of months. Also, cut back on your lighting period at the same time.

If fish aren't eating everything you put in there in the next three minutes then you might be overfeeding
