Sand Question
My brother is starting a new tank and said that he heard from his LFS that you can use Play Sand (Like in the sandbox at school) as one of the options instead of argonite. I told him just to use Argonite but he wants to make sure.
Is this true?

You can by all means use Play Sand. Just make sure you rinse it well first. There have been many successful tanks with play sand. I had to do it because I can get more than enough sand (100lbs) for $6 or $7.

Sure you can use playsand. I am on my 3rd tank in 5 yrs. and have always used playsand. I never rinsed mine either.

Just do a seach "southdown." I didn't think it used as often as it is, it simply seems wrong that its cheaper than the water its in?

Southdown is no more. They've been gone for a while now.
