large water change - what's safe?

i need to get my nitrates down since they're hovering a little below 50.

what's the safest way to do a large or series of water changes to effectively lower nitrates?

Current Tank Info: 25 gal tall, 2 x 65w pc, aqua c remora hob skimmer, fluval for flow and carbon
