Arrow How do you extract the gold?

I don't know, I read today on the internet that in every drop of sea water there's a billion gold atoms.

I have a 225 gallon tank, 55 gallon sump, and also a 24 gallon aqua pod.

My question is, how do you extract the atoms?

Should I post this in the chemistry forum?

I cant stop laughing. Do you use seawater? or a salt mix?

Im sure if someone figured out how it would cost alot more then the gold is worth.

Allowing drops of sea water to float up through Mercury will result in the Gold entering the Mercury. However, some Mercury will disolve into the sea water, so much so that you spend more money on Mercury than you make from the Gold. Also the process polutes the ocean with Mercury.

I'm fairly sure the process to convert these to any measurable amount of gold would cost way more then the finished product; otherwise people would be all over the ocean.

Gold from saltwater? BRILLIANT!

I'll work on some plans for a gold extraction device! Way to think outside the box, AS11423!

Thanks, Mishap. Since you work at an LFS, can you order a gold extraction device for me at cost?

But we must first determine how many drops of sea water I have in my total volume of 225+55+24=304 gallons. I would like to make sure if the effort is going to be worth my time. Is there a calculator for this sort of thing on the RC home page?

Well, in my research on this matter, I came across this. Very interesting. Didn't know I could run my car on saltwater, too.

should reverse and see how many atoms make up an once of gold then start thinking

This would be worthless to do. You got to be joking? I mean really.

By the way, the human body has gold in it too, start harvesting people and take gold from them too.

seeing as a single mole of water has about 6.02 x 10 to the 24th atoms (alot), 260 billion is not that much of a percentage. probally not even really measurable. (and I was so certain i would never use all that chemistry stuff from school, haha)

A billion gold atoms isn't very many. You'd be needing a hell of a lot of NSW before the gold reaches valuable amounts. Also gold is so low in value right now that you'd be better off trying to extract some other element that is likely also in sea water.

Well, assuming a billion atoms of gold per drop, if I did my calculations right, thats .00000000000019273 grams of gold per drop. I think that works out to being worth approximately $0.0000000000040473 per drop. Ill invest if you come up with an solid business plan

Just buy goldschlager and harvest the gold from that. ~$23 per bottle at 0.1g per bottle what is that like ~1.30 something? At least you will get a buzz outa the process.

Edit:

Wiki says 2.10 at the gold market price in February 2007.
