Recommended Back up
I would like some advice on recommended back up for when the electricity goes out. We have a generator for long term, but for short term, such as the other day when the electricity was out for 1 1/2 hours, I really think I need something to keep the little guys happy. I have a 150 gallon reef tank that is only 5 months old so there is not a lot of corals, but I do want to keep them as we have become attached to them. Thank you very much in advance for your help.

i use a vortech powerhead with battery backup. The unit runs for roughly 30 hrs at half speed. I just lost power for 8 hrs, and this was running for 4 hrs before i fired up the generator. The battery backup is an icecap device made for this particular unit. good luck

This will keep a couple of low wattage prop powerheads going for at least a few hours. And the price is right!
