Lighting for 75 gallon

I can't decide on what type of lighting I should get for my 75 gallon tank.
I am straying away from metal halides because of my bad past experience due to excessive algae growth.
I would perfer to do t-5s or power compacts.
I want enough lighting to house my bubletip anemone for my clown.
I have looked at all differnt types such as teh coralife or sunpaq's.
I am just at the point that I whant good enough lighting for most corals, and I would be much happier with a cleaner less algae infested tank. SO I would be very happy if I could house every coral including my bubletip (which I know is not a coral....) and at the most maybe some type of brain coral.
So everything besides really light dependet SPS.
Personal experiences woiuld be great.
All responses will be greatly appreciated.

It would give me 5.33333 watts per/gall.
What kind of setup would you do? half acintics or all daylight?

You would be better off with T5s over power compacts for efficiency reasons (not to mention overall intensity). If 'sps' dominated is not necessarily your goal, maybe look into the 4 bulb Tek fixture. I think that would give you what you want. You could even do a 6 bulb fixture if you wanted, but 4 should be plenty.

O found some good deals on tek lighting.
They have a 6 bulb with 324 watts that would give me good lighting at a great price.
But they also have teh 8 bulb for only like $100 more for an extra 108 watts giving me 6 watts a gallon.
I will check out that website.

I think the 8 bulb fixture would be overkill for what you are doing, but would still work. If you decided to go all sps in the future, that would work out well (even the 6 bulb or 4 bulb would work for that, actually). Personally, I think to give you more options, the 6 bulb fixture would be the way to go. May be too much light for some soft corals, though, at least initially. Check out www.reefgeek.com also.

I'm doing 6x54 TEK T5HO on my 90g with no concerns about growing SPS at all.

i have 4 tek light t5's over my 75 and haven't had any trouble keeping anything so far, but i dont have sps either. i like running the t5's @ normal wattage, but that is personal preference.

AquaMedic makes mostly good stuff. I know that their OceanLight combination HQI + T5 fixtures use good reflectors for the T5's. I believe that the T5 series does too (individual reflectors for each T5). I don't know about the OceanLight T5 personally, but it should be a nice fixture based on reputation but I have no personal experience.

You think that you could have a clam with this fixture?

You know I could go with led lighting if I had like $1200 spare change. The lightng pays for itself and as powerfull as metal halides.
Uses 40% energy than your traditional metal halide and teh bulbs last 10 to 15 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I am going with teh ocean lights. 6 bulbs at 54 watts apiece. giving me teh oppertunity to put pretty much anything in there besides some of the higher lighting clams.
I really apprecate all teh help you guys have gave me.
I just know need to decide what type of live rock and cleaner crew.
I always have trouble deciding what woul dbe a good cleaner package for a 75 gallon.
