Goby/pistol shrimp stuck?

The hole undearneath a rock where my goby/pistol shrimp have been hanging out is no longer open and I can't find either. Should I pull up the rock to make sure they are ok? It would be a pain because it's holding 30lbs of rock on top, but I don't want my fish to die. Please help!

Well the goby just popped out from another rock so he's fine. I'm assuming the pistol shrimp is close by.
