Check out my new Aussie Elegance Coral

I picked this coral up at the Fosters & Smith frag swap auction last weekend. Its is settling in nicely and eating well. It is absolutely HUGE.

Very purdy! You know how to care for it, right? For some time, many reefkeepers have had issues and even lost these beauties.

Yes, I did a lot of research on this coral and I had been looking for a healthy specimen (sadly) for a long time without finding one. Many I saw were infected with the short tentacle and bloated body problem that several prominent aquarists were trying to figure out. There were some that thought there was a disease or protozoans that were attacking this species and others who felt that they were already weak and then attacked. Then there was the deep collection school of thought. Live Aquaria has been having good luck with the Australian variety and so I decided to take the plunge. These guys are collected much shallower and have better chances of adapting to our stronger lighting than the Indo variety. I have had excellent luck growing other huge LPS coral so I thought this guy might be happy as well.

Keep us posted on how it goes. I had one that I thought was a really great specimen, and after a few months it went downhill. Good luck I hope it works out for you!
