All I use is a balanced 2-part additive. One part calcium, the other for alkalinity. You can just use such a product like ESV B-Ionic or you cn make it yourself by visiting www.twopartsolution.com and reading Randy's article on there on how to do it.

Just keep alk up w/ NaHCO3 (sodium bicarbonate), and Ca up w/ calcium chloride. Do 25% WC every month to replenish other elements.
Should be same as your 60g, but 40% more. Adding less is better--no additives (beside NaHCO3, CaCl2) is best. For max growth use 400W MH x 2. Get a calcium reactor, and you don't have to worry about anything--once it's dialed-in. That's what I use on my 65g.

Forget all the useless additives. Waste of money, imo. All you need is a balanced suppliment to keep your alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium up and in balance. Your weekly water changes will replenished lost trace elements. Please read the following...

so far seagrasses, halimedia, snails graciella shaving brush.. sand and rock .. haven't tested for calcium and alk.. but ph is holding at 8.4 and I do weekly 50 percent water changes since it is a nano.
my thought that the water changes would always keep the calc and alk levels up.. but I am not certain |
