Question New light = crazy Algae/ Feather duster looking things

Well, i just got a "good" light t5 Tek light 6 bulb on my 55g, i had 2 15wat bulbs there before.

i have had this tank running for a little over a year, i noticed the day after my light came, the brown algae started to grow all over and FAST, before i knew it my tank was brown. i looked into my tank "about 1 week after the light came" now there is a TON of green algae, almost no brown.

Now today I turned the light on a there are is a countless ammount of these little things that look like feather dusters, also some of the ugly purple algae is growing on the LR.

will the dusters / purple algae go away?

Once you get your water "cleaned up" All the new lights did was shed light on an existing problem ( pun intended ) --- too many nutrients in your tank. Before the new lights the algae was limited in growth because of the lack of light.
