How easy is it for snails to reproduce in the tank????
I didn't think it was that easy, but I'm starting to see tiny tiny snails all over my LR and in my Magnum 350. The Magnum I use is full of LR and is already home to 100's of amphipods, but this weekend I saw at least 20 small snails in there as well.
In the tank I only see the small snails at night, but they'll be all over my LR and on my glass. They look like little Cerith snails, but I haven't bought any Ceriths for my tank. Where are all these snails coming from? They seem to be coming out of no where Also do you know what kind of snail they could be? I'd take a pic, but they are too small for a pick. I have pink turbos in my tank, with 2 fighting conchs and 3 small queen conchs that I got for free after they were spreading in someone's tank (so could all these be queen conchs even though the 3 I have are tiny??). I also have three Nassuris (sp?) snails. Like I said, they all look like tiny ceriths, but I've never bought them before. All the snails are all basically white, and their shell is long (proportionally speaking) and comes to a point. I've checked Melev's, and the only thing that looks close to what I have is Cerith snails. Hmmmmmmmm Thanks!

i wouldnt know the type of snails.but i would say yes, snails reproduce at a fairly high rate.(this is just from what ive observed in my own tank.) although i dont think that every snail you see will actually live to gro to an adult.i could be wrong, just seems like my tank would be plagued by now.just my obsevation.

You're probably seeing adult rissoids. They're extremely common and stay very small. I'm also pretty skeptical that your queen conchs are really queen conchs. I really doubt anyone has a tank big enough to keep two adults and even then the larvae aren't easy to raise to juveniles.

My Nassarius Snails lay eggs regularly and I do notice the occasional new snails crawling about.
