Pistol shrimp & sand vs. coral?

I have a small tank and want to utilize as much of the rock as possible, but one of my larger rocks is covered with sand because of my pistol shrimp. Would it be ok to place some coral on that rock or would the continuous "snowfall" of sand hurt a coral?

yes, corals do not like to get covered with sand. If the coral is large enough, the sand wont kill it but it will develop a dead spot. Small corals that can be covered completely or a good percentage of it covered will most likely die from the stress.

Add a little more flow in that area to help keep the sand off the rock.
