ehiem 1260 return pump

The outlet on this pump is 5/8 according to the specs I have read online. Is this a female or male outlet?

could that top piece be unscrewed so you can thread a pvx piece on?

It's female. I think a 3/4" sched 80 adapter with a few winds of teflon tape can do the trick. I found it made more noise when hard plumbed, so I plumbed it using the supplied barb and vinyl tubing.

THanks very much I just wanted to make sure that fitting that comes stock could be screwed off. I already have my whole system hard plumbed otherwise I would go with the vinyl tubing.

Is it the vibration of the pvc hitting something that you are hearing?? I havent decided if i will hard plumb or use the barb fitting with vinyl tubing yet... But you may have helped me make my decision.

I think it transmitted the vibration up the tubing and that resonated with my stand. Not everyone experiences this -- but for me it was much quieter with vinyl.

So far i have had a nightmare of a time with plumbing arrrghhh. Vinyl just seems so much easier to get where you want to go

You are right about that. If you go with vinyl, just make sure you clamp it well. You don't want things coming loose

hee hee hee...my 1260 popped loose when I was at work (teaching)...got a call that my house was flooding!!!! Imagine the panic I had. I got home withing 10 minutes, to find only 5 gallons or so had actually flooded. It was still enough to leak through the floor and to the unfinished utility room below (lucky). I used/still use vinyl, but use enough teflon tape & plastic clips to ensure you don't have the same situation!
Oh, I'm thinking about switching my vinyl to spaflex tubing...I like the fact that it is not clear, and that it is a bit more permanent, and doesn't kink like viny.
Any thoughts from you ?

I had an Eheim 1260 on my old setup. I use a sched80 3/4" PVC fitting to a union fitting and Spa Flex plumbing. Secure, serviceable and quiet.
