Recent Tank pics and a Reefer's Sadness

I just got back from vacation. Yipee!! to find that my tank had crashed in a terrible way. My auto top off resevior(15 gallons) had all been used up and the tank manages to evaporate another 15 gallons. Thats 30 gallons of water snatched away buy this lovely San Bernardino weather.

This caused my main powerhead output to turn my tank into a skimmer while the temerature rose to about 95 degrees. Oh yeah, and the salinity went crazy as well.

So here is that updated FTS

and now I'm cooking my rock along with the 5 hermit crabs that survived the apocolypse

I lost my beloved Dweeb in the mayhem R.I.P.

Also, did I mention that my house was robbed while I was gone. They even managed to take my brand new Pan World Pump. Just thought I would share the misery with you guys.

And here is my one shining beacon of hope. My untouched 60 gallon cube.

My equipment collecting continues ploddingly but I an almost there. Just lighting and plumbing and finishing the stand until I can fire up my new system. Wish me luck and cooler weather

On photobucket, at the bottom right of each picture, click the yellow box below the words: "IMG Code - Forums & Bulletin Boards". This will automatically copy the link in forum code, and then you simply paste it into your message.

The upside to the robbery is that they took a bunch of stuff that I never used(exepting my computer) and when I get the Insurance money it will be like I had a very profitable garage sale. I can be an optimist sometimes.

Well, that is certainly one way to look at it! Its a shame our hobby prevents us from taking any trips. Just imagine how a poor guy running a LFS feels haha

I'm living out here just for the summer so I'm a bit uprooted right now. I've got no friends within 60 miles to check on the tank while I'm gone. Evil forces came together in order to kill my tank.

When I get beck to Long Beach in the fall I will start up a new tank that will make Dweebs ghost both proud and jealous.

Wow. Get into a secure-er apt. as soon as you can. Get one of those screamer things that goes off in a certain time if somebody mucks with the door handle, or the sort that do it when they open the door. And I'd ask the apt manager to change the lock.

On the other---bummer. A Brute 32g ro/di tub---maybe 2 of them linked so the lowest one will siphon. I don't know what else you can do.

That is certainly a good way to look at it - even better - if you would have gone the garage sale route you would have wasted a few days sitting in the hot sun waiting for people to show up!
