Starting Coralline Algae Growth.

I have a 46 gallon bow front with about 50lbs of live rock and about 40lbs of live sand. It has been cycled completely.

My live stock as of right now is 6 Turbos, 20 Hermits and 2 Striped Damsels.

I want to start adding live corals soon, what can i do to promote Coralline Algae growth?

I have some Purple Up that I add nightly, but it seems like I'm missing something because it's not giving me the desired effect.

I'd figure I'd ask here before I goto the LFS and dude trys to sell me $80 in chemicals.

Is there any coralline on the rock you bought from your LFS? It takes time to grow coralline. Just maintain CA Mag and Alkalinity. Without carbonates the calcium and mag has no where to go. Check levels before dosing.

just get your Calcium,Alk,mag at proper levels and if you have some coraline in the tank all ready than it will grow. purple up is junk if you ask me.

It will grow and grow! and you will have to support its calcium habit, so don't be too anxious. And for goodness sake don't pay forit( purple up) .

As others say, you'll need coraline to grow coraline. Also keep up the calcium and alkaline levels. Other than that, it's like boiling water, it'll grow when it's ready.
