Aquascape Pics
Here is what I have done with my tank. This is the second attempt after I bought a little more rock. I am pretty proud of it, I was going for a small cove to make my tank look bigger and lots of caves and passageways for my (nonexistent) fish.
What do you guys think? My first attempt My current setup |

Yep, everything fits together surprisingly well, I gave all of the rocks a little shake to make sure they would stay.

I like it, looks great. You will have many places to place coral this way

That rock looks like it is sitting on the sand and not the bottom glass of the tank. If so, I'd be careful about putting anything in the tank that burrows in the sand or moves sand and could alter the stability. Otherwise, I like the arrangement.

I think the placement looks great. I agree with the above that if those rocks are just sitting on sand, I would twist them down in there. Animals can make it unstable underneath, and I know people who have had nitrate problems because of the "dead zone" underneath the rock.

I really like both setups. I think either one could really work and as said above lots of places for corals and critters to get to.

I would drill some holes into the rock so you can attach corals easily later.
I would definitely twist the rocks down too.

nice arrangements - and I'll add my .02 about stability. It's amazing how our little creatures can move stuff around. Turbo snails, for one, are notorious for tipping rocks over. you can drill and use acrylic rod to anchor pieces and/or Aquamend cement. I also agree that the rock should be sitting on the bottom. Make sure you've got lots of random flow to eliminate dead spots under, through and behind your rock structure

What kind of rock is that & where did you get it? Really nice, interesting stuff. Should really get interesting when the corraline starts to grow.

Nice aquascape. You will appreciate the effort you went through even more when you stock with fish and seeing them weave in and out of the caves. Very cool set up.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the compliments and advice. You all were right, the rock is just on the sand so I will have to fix that. I was also considering using epoxy to hold the rock together but is this permanent or is it fairly easy to take apart? I may or may not want to change it at some point and would like to have that option.

I also forgot, the rock is fiji, i am really happy with it b/c it has natural holes and caves. I can't wait till the coraline covers it!

Nice. I just rearranged mine and found that I love the new set up(My fish do as well). Hopefully you'll find success with this down the line. Good to see that I'm not the only newer person around here. I was going to ask similar questions(About the Epoxy) and I checked my own and found that I had to screw the bases into the sand more(Which thankfully didn't affect stability).

Ok so I twisted the rocks down and compacted the design slightly so that I can clean the glass easier. Also where can I find the correct epoxy for my rocks? Will any do? Also I was planning on adding a some more flow to the tank by hiding a mj900 in the back behind the rock in the big cave. Does this sound reasonable or a little too big? Any suggestions?
