I have a green hairy mushroom that has gotten quite large for my tank -- it's probably about 8" in diameter when fully expanded. Can I reduce it in size by just cutting around the outside perimeter? I don't want to frag it; this one is cool but I don't want any more of them. I just want it to be smaller -- say 5" instead.

I'm sure you could cut it like that....but I don't think it would look very pretty! And then....it would just grow again.

It sounds like you are going to have to frag it. Just cut it in half and trade or sale the other one. The one that I have is about 4 inches accross and I am getting ready to frag it.

hack away!! The shroom will be fine. Take the frag piece(s) and give them to a friend w/ a frag tank or trade them with the lfs or other reefer.
