porite or not?
I thought that I had a coral skeleton on my piece of LR but recently I noticed it seems to have a "red hair algae" that grows very quickly as soon as my lights go on.
Is this a porite or not? ![]()

The porites are what used to live in the skeleton. It's hard to tell if there are any in there with the algae covering the piece.

Dave,I actually think The "red hair algae"is the living coral. Here is a pic 20 minutes after lights off if i waited a couple of hours the skeleton would be completely bare . I will try to snap a shot later for you

I here ya King, but i have to agree with the rest. Looking at the skeleton i see coraline and black old spots, not a good sign of a living coral. I also see somehting that looks like red algae.. If its not hurting anything, leave it be and see what happens.
