You will still need a canopy to mount this in.

Many people complain about oddysea fixtures, but I love mine. The only thing that will need to be done is replacing the stock ballast, because it doesn't push a true 250 thru it. But buying one of these and replacing the ballasts still brings you 100-300 under other fixtures. |

Aquatraders light fixtures have a terrible reputation, I believe I remember a few catching fire. Do your research first.
I dont know why the link is dead. Go to www.aquariumlight.com, click on MH and VHO retrofits on the left menu, and then look for the fixture with two 250w MH and two 110w VHO.

It would be over budget by $90 but really nice and worth it in the long run.
This is what I would get. 2) Icecap 250W Ballast http://www.thereefstop.com/index.php...&productId=827 2) Lumenarc III reflectors (more light than with batwing style reflectors) http://www.thereefstop.com/index.php...&productId=539 2) XM 20K SE Halides (great color without extra bulbs) http://www.thereefstop.com/index.php...&productId=199

I would get 2 -250watt single ended metal halides. Some VHO or t5 actinics would be nice too, but could be added down the road. Hellolights.com has some very inexpensive retro kits.

Lobsterofjustice,
Those are the old fixtures you are referring to. These fixtures are totally different. They have been re-worked, new E-ballasts, and are just knockoffs of the coralife fixtures. But with no name, they save lots of money. Yes the ballasts aren't the greatest and probably will need to be replaced. but you will still save over 100 dollars instead of paying for a brand name fixture. |

reefgeek.com has some metal halides on sale. You could do 2x175w for about 325$.
