Refugium + Cyanobacteria - add pump or not
I am seeing some cyanobacteria growing in the refug and I was wondering how others handle this. I do not have any pumps moving water in the refug but I thought maybe I should???? This would help the chaeteo and (I think) would rid the fuge of cyano but I wasn't certain if this would have other (bad) consiquences.
In general do people running fuges have pumps to stir the refug? I don't think I want to increase my flow through the fuge; it is currently about 1100 G/H for a 180 G tank. Note: I have NO algae in the main display; only in the sandy part of the refug (the other parts of the refug are clean). N02 and N03 are 0. Though, suggestions? Thanks, Ken |

I just moved an old seio pump into my 55g fuge. Red algae is all gone now. Just go ahead and add one, you can never have too much water flow...
