question for noob

Does hyposalinity treatment kill beneficial bacteria. The reason I ask is I am having ammonia spikes in my quarantine tank, and am treating with hypo.

I have lr in there maybe this is die off from the rock? Should I remove the lr? I am getting ammonia spikes in a fully cycled tank.

There is a hob filter with bio-media also, and it is 29 gallons.

I have 2 fish in there getting treated.

Mark

I would remove the live rock. The hyposalinity will kill the invertebrate in it, which could be the cause of the ammonia spikes.
