Filtration on a new tank
Do I need to have a canister filter in my sump along with my protein skimmer etc. if I have live Rock and a deep sand bed bottom? I'm setting up a 29 gallon tank with a 10 gallon sump.
If so what filters do you suggest? Thank you in advance |

Any filter is good if you clean it regularly, but make sure you consider your live stock selection(fish+corals) and make sure that the filter can handle the bio-load(quantity of wastes).

If you do use a canister I recommend Eheim or Filstar. I use both because I had the canister first then added the refugium. Just keep it clean.
