High salinity dangerous?
I was low on salinity, so I added extra salt to my top up water, but I guess I added too much since it is now reading 1.027. Is this harmful?

I would test again a few hours later, if it is still high, slowly add RO/DI to it to bring it down just a hair.

1.027 is fine. Anywhere from 1.025-1.028 or so is good. Even higher than that is fine, but it will take longer to acclimate new arrivals.

What was the salinity before you changed it? The level is okay but I prefer not to go over 1.025. I'ts the rapid change that causes stress.

1.023 is low, especially if there are inverts in the tank. I wouldn't try to bring it down.

That salinity is fine. I would caution against making such a drastic change next time though. I think most people try to keep it at around 1.025-1.026 just for future reference.
