ro/di waste line recycle

What do I need to get to recycle the waste water line back into the ro/di unit?

Never heard of doing it. But with each pass I'd think the TDS of the input would increase. RO removes a percentage so the output TDS would increase along with it. No?

Or use the waste water for watering house plants, FW water changes, do laundry if top loader, run to yard plants... at least those are a few of things I do.

Some people actually do this, except it uses a second membrane (and usually a pressure-boosting pump). It helps to boost output and reduce waste.

So if I did try to recycle the water back into the unit, would it wear out the filters faster? I was thinking that it would cut down on the wear and tear. I have started using it for fw changes and watering plants. I haven't seen any negative effects and I think the fw plants actually like the extra tds as fertilizer.

No, it will wear things out faster, as the wastewater will have a higher TDS than the tapwater. Please don't misunderstand--you do not recycle through the same unit, etc.--it goes through a separate membrane, di resin, etc.

every time you re-run that water through the RO unit all the heavy metals it filtered out with the waste are being re-introduced and wearing out the unit that much faster
