You mean expelling their guts? The white squiggly stuff out of the mouth?
I think that is so they can take in more nutrients from the water column - could be a sign of hunger. Or closing up, sucking everything in? Like hiding their faces? I think that is sort of like "do not disturb". Or are you talking about something completely different, and if so, can you post a pic? Or be more descriptive?

I have some orange zoas that are just started to have this brown nub pop out of the center would that be something like what your saying? I also have no clue whats happening
