29g + 20g sump on third floor???

Anyone think there is a problem with having about 50g plus stand on the third floor of an apartment building? The landlord says no, but I wanted to see what you guys think. I am planning on putting the tank next to an interior wall...dunno if that helps at all. Thanks in advance

If the floor cant support than small a tank with sump, I wouldnt feel safe living there. You are looking at about 400-450 lbs which is nothing.

Yeah, should be no problem at all and I'm with dra2n0k, if your worried about that small of a weight, I would feel uncomfortable having more then two people there..

I don't know about the weight issue, but I have some dental advice for you. If you're just starting dental school, then you probably don't have enough time for a reef tank!! My tanks went to absolute crap about half-way through my first year because I barely had enough time to eat and sleep, let alone take care of my tank. I ended up calling it quits and starting over after I graduated last year.

IMO, you might want to take a 3yr hiatus from reefing, and set something up during your 4th year when you're just in clinic.

What your landlord is most likely concerned about is flooding.
Many apts. don't allow water filled furniture or aquariums for this reason.
As far as weight, that's nothing.

I would move, No tanks equals no residency for me. The weight would be no problem I have a 125 set up by an interior wall with no problems on the 2nd floor.
BTW dent2011 I wonder if somehow we maybe related there are not to many Dent's out there.
