pipe size from return pump to tank

the return pump (mag9.5) has a 3/4" outlet

I thought I heard that I wanted larger diameter pipe from the pump to the tank

so if I did 1" would that be fine?

Yes. I use 1" on an OceanRunner 3500 which is comparable in size.

On Mag pumps the piping runs twice the size of the outlet. Don't die....you actually do need 1-1/2 piping on that.

The instructions actually say so if you look just below the chart on the second page of this instruction sheet for your pump:

rule of thumb with flow pumps, use the largest pipe you can fit. Pressure pumps are different.

Mag 9.5 3/4in output = 1.5in pipe. At Home Depot they actually have a threaded 3/4 to 1.5 adapter, its like they knew.... =)
