little white specs & worms

30g reef is about 2-3 months old now.

the last couple of days we noticed little white specs forming all over the tank, on the Live Rock, on the glass, on shells etc. not on the fish. Is this a problem?

Also we are getting a lot of worms coming out ofthe live rock. we knew there were a few and were not cocerned. THey are fleshy colored and come out both night andday. Wel now they are quite large and I counted 8 out just now (9:00 AM). SHould I start plucking them out ?

We had a turbo snail knock a frag with polyps onto the BTA, the BTA looked like it was better, but is now looking almost dead. I am wonding if this is related to either the white spots or the worms

From what your describing the white specs are the shells of sedentary filter feeders. They dont have any actual negative effects on the overall health of the tank that I know of. Every few days someone posts pics of them growing on their glass but I've never seen someone say they can affect a BTA.

ok that make sense - we have been feeding phyto plankton for the feather dusters, bubble coral etc. should we cut back?? Currently are feeding once at night 1/8 tsp of the encapsulated for a 30 gals.

In addition to the specks there are some blotches of white - it appears to be on top of the or replacing the purple alge would a picture help?

Thanks
