Salt Build-Up

I'm a little concerned about the salt build-up in my stand. I don't understand how the salt can get onto things that aren't even near the sump. Also, I assume this is affecting my salinity. Can someone please clarify?

water evaporates but salt doesnt ( i know you know that but bear with me) moisture, with salt will build up everywhere then the water will evaporate and you are left with dried salt and no water.
