setting up again
About 2 years ago I had to take my setp down because I relocated 2 times to a new state. I want to get it back up a running. My old live sand is still in the tank and has dried out. Can I reuse it?
Is it worth the hasle? Thanks |

It's just sand -- I'd give it a try. If it has collected a lot of gunk, you may need to rinse it. I'd certainly add a layer of live sand to the top of it.
Just throw some water on it and watch it for a week or two to see if it starts to smell or spikes your ammonia/nitrites... I can't tell you if it's worth the hassle, how badly do you want it back up and running?

It's gone. I was thinking of trying to save some cash and leaning that it's not worth the time of setting up, RO, cycling and find the sand is no good. Out the door it goes!
