BTA in need of some TLC
Hey everyone, I got a BTA that needs some TLC. What do you all recommend feeding it. It has plenty of light, but I need something else to help it along. Thanks.
The BTA is whitish(not bleach white I guess more of a yellowish white) I have had for about 6 months now it has never changed colors. |

I feed mine krill soaked with selcon, you could also try shrimp and silversides.

I think those are good choice, although I'd emphasize that I'd feed whole, uncleaned shrimp. They can be diced up, but the anemone needs the whole animal (perhaps not the shell) in its diet, not just the part that we eat. Be careful with the Selcon, though, as it's quite potent.

I didn't like how big the silversides were, so I've been feeding mine sand eels. They used to get shrimp, but the sand eels made a huge difference - they love them! As my LFS offered, anemone eat more fish in the wild then shrimp, so theoritically it's a better food for them. Seems to work great!

My LFS doesn't sell hardly anything, they have two types of krill one is frozen the other freeze dried or something. I have tried the frozen shrimp you buy at Wal-mart and stuff like that. I guess I should order some stuff online.

Can you describe the conditions the anemone is being kept in, and what lead you to believe that it's a food shortage that is causing the problem?

The BTA is in a 10 gallon at the bottom. For lighting I have PC's
(2X65). The clowns aren't hosting in it right now. The BTA stays small, about 2" across when I have seen it get much larger. I have seen it twice this size. It has been this way for some time now. The BTA is getting the light it needs, but I would also like to feed it something, just to help it along. |

By the way, when I bought it from my LFS it was bleached out.
So I took it home to nurse it back to health. I did notice last night that it has gained some color since I first got it, but the bulbs aren't the same though. I'll try and post some pics tonight of when I first got it and what it looks like now. |
