Fragging a colt coral

I have a colt coral that has grown considerably. I need to frag it, but I am not sure how.

Do I just take a very sharp knife and cut it at the base? It is spreading so it has several interconnected branches at the base. I could cut through the center of this base?

Or how should I proceed? Do I just cut it and leave it alone, or do I need to apply anything to the wound?

there are two ways to frag the colt, cut the branches, or put a rock in contact with the branch you wanna frag and let it attach to the rock in time. Colt is very hardy, but it slimes a lot when you cut it, so cut it it quickly with a sharp razor

if you cut the branch---adhere the branch to a frag using an elasic. It is better to lay out the branh length wise on the frag--it will grow vertical again---they can really shrink up so if you have alot adhered with the elastic its harder for it to break loose.
